Allied Health Professions

Allied Health Professions (AHP): 

The concentration in Allied Health Professions (AHP) is for people interested in eventual graduate education in allied health professions (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, medical or dental school) after graduation from CSUSB. CSUSB Kinesiology AHP students will engage in a rigorous course of study in Kinesiology, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This concentration offers undergraduate students essential pre-requisite courses for eventual graduate study in a preferred AHP. Students are strongly encouraged to review admission requirements at accredited universities to which they may apply for specific allied health professional graduate programs. Twelve units in the AHP concentration meets the requirements for GE and major.  AHP is an impacted major, which means you have to meet specific criteria to be admitted into this program. Impaction Admission Criteria:

Fall admission only for AHP through the admission process. If applying for the Spring semester, apply for Exercise Science concentration and then meet the criteria below for "current students" to get into AHP.

First time freshman: 

Applicants will be required to meet a minimum High School GPA of 3.20 to be reviewed for admission.

Transfer students: 

Applicants to Kinesiology-Allied Health majors must submit an application within the initial filing period for the Fall term. All applicants are encouraged to identify an alternate major on their admission application. Transcripts of all completed coursework, and other required documents, must be submitted to the Office of Admissions & Student Recruitment by July 15.

Upper Division Transfers: The admission of upper-division transfers to Kinesiology-Allied Health majors is based on transferable GPA and completion of prerequisite coursework.

A minimum of 3.20 GPA is required, and applicants must receive a minimum grade of "C" in each of the following courses: MATH 1601 or MATH 2210, BIOL 2230 & 2240, and one set from: CHEM 2100/L CHEM 2200/L, PHYS 2000/L PHYS 2010/L, or PHYS 2500/L PHYS 2510/L.

Current Students:

Current CSUSB students must meet the AHP admission criteria, which can be found here. Once a students meets this criteria, they should submit a change in major request through their MyCoyote, their request will be reviewed and if criteria is met, they will be moved to the AHP concentration.
