Bachelor of Science

The B.S. in Mathematics is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in which mathematics is a primary requirement or for those who wish to pursue a higher degree in mathematics or a related subject. Students may follow the general track or specialize by taking a concentration in one of the five areas: Biology, Computer Science, Economics,Geographical Information Systems, or Physics.

The total number of units in the B.S. degree varies between 102 and 120 units depending on the chosen concentration. However, whichever track you select, there are 62 units of common core classes. The remaining units (between 40 and 56 units) come from the concentration. Students must choose either the general track or one of the applied concentrations.

  • General Track (41 units)
  • Concentration in Biology (56-58 units)
  • Concentration in Computer Science (40 units)
  • Concentration in Economics (40 units)
  • Concentration in Geographic Information Systems (48 units)
  • Concentration in Physics (49 units)

A complete description of the course requirements for each track may be found in the Bulletin of Courses.

A schedule of courses for each quarter is available from the opening page of the University web site and the final exam schedule for each quarter is found at the Academic Scheduling home page. For convenience we list those links here.
